Specific undergraduate degree requirements

There are more admission requirements to be met for some undergraduate degree programs because of the required student profile.

Admission requirements

  • Undergraduate degree in Political Science and Governance
    Obtain a minimum score of 1,200 points in the admission examination.

  • Undergraduate degree in Law
    Be accepted by the Admissions Committee of the Law program, based on a written essay in which you mention why you decided to pursue the undergraduate degree program in Law at the Universidad de Monterrey and attend an interview with the program director. Additionally, obtain a score of at least 1,200 points in the admission test en el examen de admisión.
  • Undergraduate degree in Industrial Design
    Obtain a minimum score of 1,200 points in the admission examination.
  • Undergraduate degree in Economics
    Obtain a minimum score of 1,200 points in the admission examination.
  • Undergraduate degree in Humanistic and Religious Studies
    Obtain a minimum score of 1,200 points in the admission examination.
  • Undergraduate degree in Humanistic and Social Studies
    Obtain a minimum score of 1,200 points in the admission examination.
  • Undegraduate degree in Philosophy
    Obtain a minimum score of 1,200 points in the admission examination.
  • Undergraduate degree in Literature
    Obtain a minimum score of 1,200 points in the admission examination.
  • Undergraduate degree in Sociology
    Obtain a minimum score of 1,200 points in the admission examination.
  • Undergraduate degrees in Medicine, Surgery, and Midwifery, and Dentistry and Dental Surgery
    Obtain a minimum score of 1,150 points in the entrance examination (550 points in the verbal section and 600 points in the mathematics section) and have a minimum average grade of 8.0 or its equivalent in a different scale in your high school of origin.

    * Candidates interested in the undergraduate degree in Medicine, Surgery, and Midwifery need to attend an interview with the program director.
  • Undergraduate degree in Mechatronics
    Obtain a minimum score of 1,200 points in the admission examination.

Placement Requirements

​​ 1. Physics Exam
If you wish to enter any of the following undergraduate degree programs, you must obtain a minimum score of 70 points on the Physics placement exam. Check dates.

If your average grade in Physics is 8.0 or higher, or if you are a Prepa UDEM graduate, you will be exempted from taking this exam.

If you fail this exam, you will have to sign up for the “General Physics” preparatory course (does not award any co-curricular credits).

2. Differential Calculus Exam
You will have to take the “Differential Calculus” course if you are enrolled in any of the following undergraduate degree programs:
  • Biomedical Engineer
  • Mechatronics Engineer
  • Computer Technologies Engineer
  • Industrial and Systems Engineer
  • Mechanical Engineering Administrator
  • Bachelor of Industrial Design
  • Bachelor of Economics
  • Automotive Design Engineer
  • Civil Engineering
  • Electronic Technology and Robotics Engineer

In order for you to take this course, you must first sign up for “Integrated Workshop of Differential Calculus” (Taller Integrado de Cálculo Diferencial). Wednesday of the first week of class you will be given a diagnostic examination. The result of this exam will determine your placement in the “Differential Calculus” course or your permanence in the “Integrated Workshop of Differential Calculus”.

3. Quantitative Tools for Business Exam
You will have to take the “Quantitative Tools for Business” course if you are enrolled in any of the following undergraduate degree programs:
  • Bachelor in Management and Business Administration
  • Bachelor of International Marketing
  • Bachelor of Accounting and Finance
  • Bachelor of International Finance
  • Bachelor in Global Business Sustainability and Energy Innovation Engineer

In order for you to take this course, you must first sign up for “Quantitative Fundamentals for Business”. Wednesday of the first week of class you will be given a diagnostic examination. The result of this exam will determine your place in the “Quantitative Tools for Business” course or your permanence in the “Quantitative Fundamentals for Business” course. ​​
