It is through encounters with the underprivileged communities and formative education in caring-educational service that the University Missionary Center shares faith and life and fosters a critical conscience for the construction of a more just society based on Jesus’ proposal.
The formative essence of students’ education is based on a Culture of Peace and on Human Development and Spirituality and it can be assumed through participation in any of the following projects:
- Missions for Peace: This is a national experience which proposes to experience the depth of a religious mission and the commitment of a social mission with an aim to reflect and work in favor of a Culture of Peace and Non-violence, based on the proposal of the Gospel.
- Mission Africa: This is an international experience in which various communities in Kenya are visited with the Missionaries of Guadalupe. This is a yearly formative project which culminates with a six-week experience in Maasai communities during the academic summer.
- Mission Latin America: This is an international experience in which various communities in Peru are visited with the Missionaries of Guadalupe. This is a yearly formative project which culminates with a six-week experience in parish communities in Pucallpa, during the academic summer.
Participating in this kind of experiences makes it possible to accredit the Diplomado en Educación para la Paz (Diploma Course in Education for Peace), by going on two retreats as camp and taking the following co-curricular courses:
