The UDEM's architecture program stands out for its clear approach towards sustainable design, for its widely recognized faculty, and for the attractive job offers its graduates receive, sometime even before graduating.
Starting in 2012, the most brilliant, progressive, and creative architecture students will have the opportunity of training in the new Roberto Garza Sada Center (CRGS), a space devoted to creative ideas and artistic expression, which will gather and develop the best creative talent in Latin America.
Objectives:

- To able to design, with methodological analysis, architectural and constructive solutions that facilitate and enhance their intended human activities.

Enrollment Profile
The students who enroll in this program have a strong ability for observation and an eagerness to design and build. They also have social, cultural, and historical sensibility and an interest in improving their environment. They are curious about the historical roots of cities and cultures and are keen to use technology and research to realize their ideas.

Our architects (ARQ) will be prepared to work for public or private institutions. They are trained to work in the areas of design and planning, projects, construction, supervision, and project management.
They are also prepared to establish their own offices and work independently in the areas of sustainable urban architectural design, construction, consultancy, supervision of works, project management. They can execute construction projects of any magnitude in many different areas, such as residential, commercial, recreational, and cultural projects, among others.
Some of the outstanding projects realized by students from different semesters in the Architecture Undergraduate Degree Program are shown below.

El objetivo de este proyecto es diseñar el Centro de Espiritualidad del Apostolado de la Cruz, ubicado en Ciudad Benito Juárez, NL, para la comunidad católica de México, donde se ofrecerá un espacio de encuentro personal; materializando la esencia por medio de una arquitectura sensorial que logre una conexión espiritual a través de una relación naturaleza-arquitectura-silencio. El proyecto se encuentra ubicado en un terreno de planta irregular con un área de 11 hectáreas y un sembradío de 581 nogales reticulados a 14 metros entre eje y eje. El proyecto busca crear una experiencia a través del estudio de la arquitectura y fenomenología, combinando materiales, luces, vistas, sonidos y proporciones de manera que el espectador sea llamado a recorrer y experimentar los espacios.
Materializing the essence
The projects main goal is to design the Spiritual Center for the Apostolado de Cruz, situated in Ciudad Juárez, NL, for Mexico's catholic population, where people can find themselves; materializing the essence through a sensorial architecture that achieves a spiritual connection through the relation of nature-architecture-silence. The site is an irregular polygon with an area of 11 acres, a plantation of 581 walnut trees reticulated at 14 meters between axes. The project creates an experience through the study of architecture and phenomenology, combining materials, lights, sights, sounds and proportions in a way that the spectator is called to travel and experience the spaces.

Diseño del modelo de escuela pública primaria
Buscando brindar una Educación de Calidad, se diseña un modelo de escuela pública para Nuevo León que responda a un nuevo programa de necesidades demandado por los jóvenes mexicanos. Mediante la implementación de éste, surge un nuevo esquema de escuela que brindará mejores espacios y las herramientas necesarias para crear una sociedad competitiva, con mejores oportunidades. Con este modelo los usuarios (alumnos, maestros y personal de servicio), también perciben una cultura de reciclaje ya que la escuela se construye utilizando contenedores marítimos de desecho, además de otros materiales que se reutilizan para crear mobiliario.
Model design of an elementary school
In the quest for a quality education, a model for public elementary school for Nuevo Leon is designed, one that responds to the new program of needs demanded by the children of Mexico. Through the implementation of these, arises a new kind of school, one that will provide better spaces and the tools that are needed to make a competitive society, with better opportunities. With this new model the students, teachers and other staff, perceive a culture focused on recycling, since the school is built using shipping containers in addition to other recycled materials.

El proyecto busca diseñar un complejo museístico con el fin de contribuir a la sostenibilidad de la identidad del territorio de La Huasteca, protegiendo sus componentes naturales, culturales y su desarrollo; involucrando al habitante en los espacios, propiciando un ambiente de participación y valoración del lugar como zona de Reserva Natural Protegida e impulsando el ecoturismo como actividad principal.
The general objective is to design a museum complex that contributes to the sustainability of the identity of the area of La Huasteca, protecting its natural and cultural components as well as their development, involving the habitants in the spaces, providing an atmosphere of participation and appreciation of place as a natural protected zone and promoting ecotourism as the main activity.

En un ambiente de contradicción, contrastes y retos, la intervención en la antigua pedrera abarca distintas escalas, desde la urbana, hasta la más próxima con el usuario e incluye distintos tipos de relación con lo preexistente, desde el programa propuesto, hasta la solución del detalle arquitectónico de los sistemas constructivos.
In a challenged, contradictory and contrasting environment, intervention in the old rock quarry encompasses different scales ranging from urban to the one closest to the user and also includes relation with what already exists. The scope of this extends from the proposed program on up to the architectural solution of current building systems.

Strategic plan for the revitalization of "El Cerro de la Campana"
Anthropological / architectural study of the urban fabric within a marginal zone of the city, a zone which has evolved without the assistance of formal planning or design efforts. The result of the study provides a prototypical housing alternative for residents without economic resources.

"Morada Verde": Vivienda ecológica portatil autoconstruible
Prototipo de vivienda que ayuda a la preservación del medio ambiente a través de sistemas pasivos y la implementación de tecnologías, el reciclaje y la reutilización de materiales. Crea una opción innovadora y flexible en cuanto al uso del espacio dependiendo de las necesidades del interesado y da la facilidad al propietario de transportar su casa de forma sencilla a distintos sitios siempre que crea conveniente.
"Morada Verde" (Autoconstructable, portable and ecological house)
Prototypical residential design that preserves the environment through the use of sustainable, passive methods, technologies and the recycling of materials. The project creates an innovating and flexible option in the usage of the space depending on the owner's needs and gives the owner the opportunity to relocate the house to different sites as desired.
