We are the only institution in northern Mexico that combines public administration and political science in one program. The Bachelor of Political Science and Public Administration is focused on the professionalization of public servants according to international trends. 

The graduates from this program obtain expert knowledge of the Mexican political system and have a 100-percent job placement rate.

Objective

To shape professionals ready to improve the quality of governmental work according to the demands of the current political situation. Graduates will be knowledgeable in the national and international historical context and in the processes of political participation and good government. Their decisions will be grounded in political and government theory, as well as in rigorous methods of analysis of the political system and its various components.

Enrollment Profile

The students who enroll in this program are highly interested in public service and in the operation of the government. They are either committed to participating in the political or governmental system or seek to become political analysts. They are capable decision-makers and natural leaders who have a facility at communicating and analyzing social problems.

Graduation Profile

Upon completion of their undergraduate degree, the students will have the following knowledge, skills, and attitudes:

Knowledge of:

  • Political theory and political analysis. 
  • The global political system and, specifically, the Mexican political system. 
  • The main areas of public administration research, as well as the operation of governmental institutions. 
  • The democratic and citizen participation processes. 
  • The juridical principles governing the operation of society, particularly in the area of constitutional law, fundamental rights, and administrative law. 
  • Modern world history and the history of politics. 
  • The economic principles that enable the operation of society, both in its private and public sectors.

Skills for: 

  • Political, historical, and economic analysis. 
  • Projection of future social scenarios. 
  • Design and assessment of public policies. 
  • Analysis of speech and content. 
  • Interdisciplinary work. 
  • Team work.

Each UDEM curriculum is made up of two blocks of courses:

  • Professional studies, these are the specialized, professional courses that make each degree plan unique.
  • General studies, these are the courses that provide a general and interdisciplinary overview.

Bachelors of Political Science and Public Administration (LPA) are prepared to work:

  • In the government as public administrators, as well as in civil institutions. 
  • In national and international civil service organizations. 
  • In political consulting bureaus and organizations that design and assess governmental public policy or organizing political campaigns. 
  • In lobbying firms that help private companies or civil organizations deal directly with the government or with legislators. 
  • Teaching and research in political science and public administration.
