Community Service and Interships

You want to try something different during your stay? These options are a strong reason to come to UDEM!

COMMUNITY SERVICE

It is with great pleasure that we invite all the students worldwide to participate in the community service programs that Universidad de Monterrey develops.

Held for four weeks during June or July 2010, this summer program encourages students (local and international) to become actively involved in one of UDEM's Rural Community Development Programs by participating in their daily activities and offering workshops for the children and women to improve the community's quality of life.

Throughout the program, participants will experience personal growth and develop their leadership competencies such as:

  • Emotional intelligence
  • Interpersonal relations
  • Team work
  • Communication
  • Problem solving
  • Planning and organization
  • Team management

Cost: $800 USD. Includes a community service certificate, transportation to and from the rural communities, housing, and meals.

For more information on community service programs, please contact Mayela Reyes at mreyes35@udem.edu.mx.

INTERSHIPS AT UDEM

A guided internship in Mexico during your student exchange program will provide a number of benefits, among them:

  • Combining academic knowledge with an experience in your chosen field, in an actual environment and under actual conditions.
  • Acquiring international experience working in a country other than your own.
  • Learning the conditions and characteristics of work in Mexico thus understanding another aspect of Mexican culture.
  • Providing an important addition to your curriculum vitae.
  • Making contacts in your chosen area for future professional reference.

The International Office is currently working on a catalogue that will allow us to guarantee an internship for you during your stay.

If you are interested in an internship, please do not forget to specify it in the paperwork you will send us. We need to know the kind of internship you are interested in so we can advise you accordingly. Do not forget that you will be required to attend some interviews in different companies, so please update your curriculum as much as you can.

It is also important for you to consider that internships in Mexico are not always paid. Even more, if you are a foreigner, immigration regulations will not allow you to receive more than $2,500 MXP ($200 USD approx) per month.

For more information on internships, please contact Daniela Rodriguez at drodriguez3@udem.edu.mx.
