Innovate in construction materials

The eighth semester students Walter Daniel Mata Martínez, Bachelor of Business Creation and Business Innovation, and Francisco Sergio García Luna, Bachelor of Economics, won the Komenko Award for Entrepreneurial Excellence.

The students demonstrated that it is possible to manufacture from blocks, walls and tiles, to floors, tiles and kitchens with the waste mixture that they have called polycrete, which is the combination of polymers and concretes in English.

In addition to an economic amount, students will receive free advice from Komenko -the virtual platform of legal services- in the legal aspect for their fledgling company, Was Company (World Wide and Contability Solutions), such as trademark registration, RFC and establishment of the different types of contracts.

For the polycrete project, students have received the following recognitions:

  • 2017: Selected among the best 150 green companies nationwide by Cleantech Challenge Mexico.
  • 2017: Top 20 in value chain innovation projects (semifinalist) in the Dow Award.
  • 2017: 2nd place in the Municipal Award of the Entrepreneur of San Pedro.
  • 2017: Selected and granted a scholarship in the Accelerator of the HUB of Entrepreneurship of the University of Monterrey.
  • 2017: Finalist at NEXT Factory of Entrepreneurs.
  • 2017: 3rd place in the Komenko Prize.
  • 2018: Semifinalist at GSEA Mexico 2018 (Global Student Entrepreneur Awards).
  • 2018: Finalist in San Pedro Municipal Youth Award 2018.
