Description
In the medical specialty in Pneumology, you will have the opportunity to observe, study, and treat inpatients and outpatients with a wide variety of respiratory diseases, so that by the end of your training period you will have become competent at describing the anatomy and explaining the foundations of the embryology, physiology, and pathology of the respiratory system.
You will demonstrate competence and technical dexterity in the diagnosis and treatment of a broad spectrum of acute and chronic respiratory ailments in the different medical-care clinical scenarios.
Duration: 3 years.

Recognition of Official Validity of Studies (RVOE) granted by the Mexican Secretariat of Public Education in accordance with agreement 20110463 dated November 2015.
Objective
As a participant in the training program in Pneumology, you will produce prevention programs, health promotion programs, and health education programs for your patients, their families, and the community. You will build up knowledge, skills, and attitudes that will allow you to practice the specialty independently.
Student Learning Outcomes
- You will solve the clinical problems of pathologies pertaining to Pneumology in the different clinical scenarios.
- You will demonstrate through your actions the principles of ethics and professionalism of your specialty.
- You will support the tutoring of lower-ranking peers and patients.
- You will develop research that will allow you to make decisions regarding the care of your patients.
Graduate profile
You will be a medical professional who is trained to provide care to geriatric, adult, and pediatric patients, with in-depth knowledge of the specialty, which will allow you to solve health problems related to Pneumology in a comprehensive manner. Additionally, you will deal with matters concerning a humane, moral, and ethical attitude toward the practice of your profession. You will be capable of coordinating appropriately with the different services and collaborating with administration, teaching, and research processes.
Admission profile
You will need to have completed 1 year of the Specialty in Internal Medicine. Furthermore, you will need to have the following knowledge:
- Scientific foundations of medicine and en particular de Internal Medicine.
- Interrelations between different diseases and the interactions of different treatments.
- Scientific methodology and the epidemiological method.
- Fluent and accurate use of oral and written Spanish.
- Understanding and translating English.
You will need to have completed 1 year of the Specialty in Internal Medicine. Furthermore, you will need to have the following skills:
- Diagnostic and therapeutic procedures in Pediatrics.
- Teamwork.
- Systematized retrieval of medical information.
- Basic ability to use the Internet.
- Basic use of Windows (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Use of statistics packages.
You will need to have completed 1 year of the Specialty in Internal Medicine. Furthermore, you will need to have the following attitudes:
- Warmth and availability to care for the patient and his or her family.
- Discipline, order, and punctuality.
- Honesty and respect of others as values.
- Study habits and participation in continuing education activities.
- Enterprising spirit.
- Responsibility and leadership in the health care team.
