- 100% of the Gynecology and Obstetrics residents at the Universidad de Monterrey are now certified in Good Clinical Practice by the U.S. National Drug Abuse Treatment Clinical Trials Network
The Gynecology and Obstetrics Residency Program at CHRISTUS MUGUERZA and Universidad de Monterrey has achieved a milestone that reaffirms its academic quality and commitment to excellence: all of its residents, from first to fourth year (R1–R4), now hold active certification in Good Clinical Practice (GCP), in accordance with international guidelines from the International Council for Harmonisation (ICH) and the World Health Organization (WHO).
GCP certification ensures that each resident has the necessary training to conduct, evaluate, and participate in clinical research under the highest ethical and scientific standards.
This achievement translates into greater patient safety, increased transparency in the generation of medical evidence, and a strengthened academic foundation for the program. It ensures that all residents enhance the quality and safety of patient care while also contributing to the development of medical evidence in an ethical, transparent, and reproducible manner.
“We are proud of this milestone. Achieving GCP certification for 100% of our residents reflects our commitment to excellence, ethics, and innovation in medical education”, highlighted José Tiran Saucedo, Head Professor of the CHRISTUS MUGUERZA–UDEM Gynecology and Obstetrics Program.
This international recognition is supported by certifications endorsed by the U.S. National Drug Abuse Treatment Clinical Trials Network (NIDA CTN), establishing a new benchmark for specialist training in the region.
The CHRISTUS MUGUERZA–UDEM Gynecology and Obstetrics Residency Program stands out for its emphasis on academic excellence and professional ethics, innovation in medical education, including guided self-learning methodologies and the “Professor 4.0” model, —as well as for its international collaboration that promotes the development of competencies in research and clinical practice.
Together, these strengths position the program as a leader in training specialists committed to medical excellence, ethics, and academic innovation.
These certifications also reinforce UDEM Health as an ecosystem that integrates education, clinical care, and research with both local and international impact. This ecosystem was created to ensure coordination among the different programs and disciplinary areas, including academic, operational, and administrative processes.
Through the implementation of UDEM Health, the Universidad de Monterrey reaffirms its commitment to building a future where the Well-being of communities remains a priority, and where care is provided with Generosity, Human warmth, and deep Respect for each person’s dignity always aligned with its Catholic-inspired identity.
