- With more than 80 activities, including book presentations, workshops, and talks that brought together teachers, students, and alumni to experience this celebration of culture.
With activities that highlighted the presence of students, professors, and UDEM alumni, the Universidad de Monterrey took part in the 2025 edition of the Monterrey International Book Fair, held from October 11 to 19.
The program featured more than 80 cultural and academic activities. Over 60 of them took place at the institutional booth, while 19 were book presentations by UDEM professors and researchers held in the auditoriums of Cintermex.
The schedule brought together professors, students, alumni, and staff who shared experiences and projects related to culture, literature, and research. Among the participants were Sofía Segovia, Janet Juárez, Rixio Portillo, Walter Mata, Héctor Imperial, and Diego Lozano de la Garza, among others.
The University’s booth included dedicated spaces for the institutional magazines 360° UDEM, Tres Puntos, Invortex, and Consciencia Contemporánea, as well as activities led by UDEM Library, the UDEM Astronomical Observatory, the Center for Sustainability, Prepa UDEM, and Lifelong Learning. More than 100 books authored by UDEM research professors were also on display and available for purchase.
Some of the most popular activities included Micrófono al aire, organized by the Humanities Student Society; the talk “Astronomical Myths”, led by Janis Venegas; the astronomical workshops “Choosing My First Telescope and Basic Operation of a Telescope”, taught by Fernando del Bosque; “Find Your Poetic Voice”, led by the collective Café con autores; and “From Hamlet to Superman: How to Create Iconic Characters”, taught by Poncho del Bosque.
The activities offered at the booth helped visitors envision what life within the university community is like, explained Luis Joel Cortés, reference librarian at UDEM Library. “There is a wide variety of activities for all audiences, both academic and cultural. It’s a great showcase of what you can find at UDEM, from professors to students, and what you can expect from the University,” he said.
For her part, Marcela Ramírez, lead teacher at Prepa UDEM San Pedro, shared: “I really enjoyed this year’s edition at the Book Fair. I think the area feels much more open, and having the auditoriums on another floor allowed for better use of the space for more exhibitors.”
Meanwhile, Jeannette Garza, UDEM student from the Law program, noted: "The booth is beautiful, it truly reflects what my alma mater represents, which is forming humane professionals.”
UDEM’s participation in the Feria del Libro de Monterrey reaffirms its commitment to sharing knowledge and promoting spaces for academic and cultural exchange. The University’s presence seeks to strengthen its connection with the community and showcase the work of its authors, researchers, and students in an environment of dialogue and collaboration.
