Upon completion of this course, students will be able to identify basic construction materials such as wood, steel, concrete, and glass, and their properties in order to describe their chemical composition, historical evolution, contemporary uses, constraints, and architectural possibilities, as well as new and potential products.

Upon completion of this course, students will be able to apply the fundamental principles and regulations to be used for the installations, lighting systems, hydraulic, sanitary, and electricity equipment of residential constructions, being able to describe their characteristics, construction processes and the range of possibilities to apply them to an architectural design.

Upon completion of this course, students will be able to explain the behavior of the different steel and concrete structures, as well as their advantages and disadvantages in terms of architectural design, based on the theory of basic structural properties of materials, in order to achieve the correct use of structural elements.

Upon completion of this course, students will be able to apply structural behavior concepts to determine the dimensions and geometric properties of the different elements that make up a structure, in order to establish the most suitable materials to build it in accordance with construction needs.

Upon completion of this course, students will be able to distinguish and explain the basic concepts of structural behavior (work loads, reactions, shear, momentum, torsion, etc.) and the mechanical performance of materials (deformation, permissible loads, types of failure, etc), in order to obtain the bases to design structural elements.

This course aims to: (1) introduce students to the use of architectural representation applied to the design process, from site registration and the preliminary concept sketches to the presentation of the idea. (2) Have students practice quick drawing and architectural perspective techniques, exploring and using representation techniques with different media for expression and visualization. (3) Have students apply knowledge to generate all the graphic documentation of an architect's design process.

Upon completion of this course, students will be able to apply theoretical knowledge and design abilities to the development of architectural projects of medium programmatic complexity, in order to comprehend the interrelationship between building and site, developing the exploration and innovation capacities in terms of an architectural proposal, recognizing the physical, environmental, social, urban, and constructive implications.

Upon completion of this course, students will be able to apply theoretical knowledge and design abilities to the development of architecural projects of low and medium programmatic complexity, in order to perceive the architectural object as a sustainable response to the conditions of the surrounding environment, thus developing critical judgement and the capacity to explore and innovate in terms of the the architectural proposal, without overlooking the research and application of factors such as the climatic, ecological, and energy-saving implications, as well as the structural criteria,

Upon completion of this course, students will be able to apply knowledge of modeling and geometric programming to the most common cases of urban and space architectural design in order to understand digital design and manufacture models from the different programming languages and parametric design platforms.
