Description
In the medical subspecialty in Neonatology you will be able to demonstrate the professional competencies necessary to monitor the growth and development process of the human newborn. You will also prevent and solve the health care problems of infants at this stage of life efficiently and effectively.
Furthermore, you will acquire the knowledge, skills, and attitudes necessary to practice this specialty with excellence.
Duration: 3 years.

- IMSS Hospital 23.
- Specific information on the Christus Muguerza Conchita venue. Program accredited by the Programa Nacional de Posgrados de Calidad (PNPC) of CONACYT.
Recognition of Official Validity of Studies (RVOE) granted by the Mexican Secretariat of Public Education in accordance with agreement 20101131 dated November 3, 2009. Latest curricular modification: November 4, 2015.
Objective
We prepare specialist physicians in Neonatology who are trained to meet the highest expectations for the biopsychosocial health of newborns in the community.
Student Learning Outcomes
- You will solve the clinical problems of pathologies pertaining to Neonatology in different clinical scenarios.
- You will demonstrate through your actions the principles of ethics and professionalism of your specialty.
- You will support the tutoring of lower-ranking peers and patients.
- You will develop research that will allow you to make decisions regarding the care of your patients.
Graduate profile
You will be a health science professional in charge of the preventative medical care, therapeutics, and rehabilitation of diseases, congenital malformations, and lesions present in the newborn patient. You will also be responsible for providing follow-up for the effects of these diseases and sequels acquired during the perinatal period.
Admission profile
You will need to have completed the Specialty in Pediatrics. Furthermore, you should also possess the following knowledge:
- Formal training as a Pediatrics specialist.
- Fluent and accurate use of oral and written Spanish.
- Understanding and translating English.
You will need to have completed the Specialty in Pediatrics. Furthermore, you should also possess the following skills:
- Be in the habit of studying and participate in continuing education activities that enhance your academic and cultural development.
- Demonstrate perseverance to devote yourself to your studies exclusively.
- Practice of your profession with humanitarianism and in strict compliance with ethics and legal regulations.
- Undertake actions that contribute to your personal and professional growth.
- Have the ability to learn to use advanced technology, as well as broad knowledge of scientific methodology and the epidemiological method.
- Use of statistics packages.
- Understanding the English language.
- Systematized retrieval of medical information.
- Experience in the comprehensive pediatric management of the most prevalent health problems affecting this age group.
You will need to have completed the Specialty in Pediatrics. Furthermore, you should also possess the following attitudes:
- Assume your responsibility and leadership both in the community and with the multidisciplinary health care group that you join.
- Have an attitude of constant academic improvement toward your ongoing development in scientific and technological advancements in the specialty that you wish to pursue, through self-learning.
- Have, promote, and practice a healthy lifestyle in order to educate individuals and the community so that they apply appropriate measures to prevent diseases and enjoy better quality of life.
- Have values such as honesty, responsibility, appreciation for the values of others (humanistic values), and an enterprising spirit.
