At the conclusion of this course, students will be able to organize and reflect on their knowledge of the Basic Sciences to link it with the study of the Clinical Sciences included in their medical degree program in order to attain a competent performance in solving clinical cases of the most common first-contact care diseases and to pass national and international graduate medical specialty tests. Course aims will be achieved through readings, discussions, research, and a clinical reasoning approach to the management of clinical cases.

At the conclusion of this course, students will be able to take an active, effective role in the care of the growth and development of children and adolescents. They will behave ethically and professionally to protect the health of patients in these age groups and refer them promptly to a specialist in case of abnormal situations beyond their professional competence. Course aims will be achieved through bibliographic research, discussions with problematized clinical cases, group sharing experiences, collaborative work, outpatient consultation practices and duty shifts.

This course aims to explore cutting-edge technologies for the automation of processes in health care institutions by analyzing their feasibility, advantages and disadvantages and considering their efficiency, effectiveness and impact on the doctor-patient relationship.

Students are introduced to concepts of medical instrumentation identification, analysis, and design. They also review the different elements that make up diagnostic, monitoring, and therapeutic equipment.

This course provides students with a descríption of the theoretical foundations of the image generating devices used in medicine, including microscopy, x rays, computerized axial tomography and magnetic resonance; analysis and design of the equipment that produces these images as well as the study of the properties of generated images.

This course will introduce students to new fields and develpments in the different areas of Biomedical Engineering.

The aim of this course is for students to learn and understand the functions of a Clinical Engineering Program in a hospital.

This course aims to promote the development of competences for the selection and management of ramdom clinical trials, groups, cases and controls; the specific methodologic characteristics for the development of each one, and their potential in the generation of knowledge (scientific evidences).  The investigation procotol is reviewed to start research development.

At the conclusion of the course, students will be able to prevent and manage comprehensively the most frequent diseases at primary-care level. They will also demonstrate critical judgment to refer cases which are beyond their resolving capacity to another level of care. The aim of this is for the students to develop an attitude toward clinical medicine oriented to the optimization of health care resources. This will be achieved through readings, discussions and practice obtained in clinical rotations.
