Mario Páez González


He is a graduate of the undergraduate Public Accounting program at the Tecnológico de Monterrey. He also earned a master’s degree in Business Administration from the same institution. He pursued an MBA at Tulane university and completed the Senior Management program at IPADE. 

He has a 45-year career with Alfa, where he has held various positions, such as CEO of Empaques de Cartón Titán, CEO of Total Home (Home Depot), and CFO of Alfa. 

In 1997, he joined Grupo Sigma Alimentos, where he was appointed CEO in 2002. During his tenure as the company’s CEO, he has managed to increase sales sixfold and lead the company’s expansion to 18 countries of North America, Central America, South America, and Europe, with a workforce of more than 45,000 people. Furthermore, various human development programs have been implemented, such as the Universidad Sigma and the Sigma-Anspac program, which have more than 6,700 students and 600 trainers and educators. 

His other responsibilities include participating as a Board Member with several Mexican companies. 

He has sponsored various social causes, notably as president of the Jesús M. Montemayor Foundation, one of the main philanthropic organizations in Nuevo León, which supports education-related initiatives and Charity institutions. Since 2008, he has been a member of the Economic Council of the Archdiocese of Monterrey and presided over the Diocesan Tithing Committee. 

He has been married to Mrs. Nidia Villarreal since 1975. They have two children and four grandchildren.​
