Alejandro Ismael Trejo Castro, alumno de la carrera de Ingeniero Biomédico, fue coautor del artículo “Cromoblastomicosis”.
La investigación fue sobre un paciente de 80 años proveniente del estado de Hidalgo que presentaba una rara enfermedad dermatológica: cromoblastomicosis, un hongo que entra en la piel y al paso del tiempo hace una escamación.
La publicación se realizó en la revista Dermatología, Cosmética, Médica y Quirúrgica, en septiembre del 2016.

Universidad de Monterrey graduates Alejandro López, Andrés Garzafox, and Sergio Hurtado, developed Dermapp, a cellphone app that assesses, analyzes, and determines the risk of suffering from skin cancer.

Studying Biomedical Engineering at UDEM helped me to understand my country’s real needs in health-related topics and to acquire knowledge, tools, and contacts to provide solutions that generate positive impacts on the provision of health services in Latin America.

The undergraduate degree program in Biomedical Engineering is diverse and fascinating. I proudly remember walking out of a Medical Sciences classroom where I took classes with Medical students, and heading to my next class at the Electronics Laboratory, thus completely changing my mind’s focus.

I was a Prepa UDEM student and in an event promoting the undergraduate degree programs I discovered Biomedical Engineering. It was there that I decided to pursue that program. Throughout the semesters, I took advantage of the fact that my house was a long way away from the University and I had to stay at the campus for most of the day to take some curricular courses in sports and dance.
