Announcement | Avoid traveling during the vacation season

San Pedro Garza García, July 9, 2020

Dear collaborators:

UDEM has been monitoring the epidemiological situation brought about by COVID-19 on an ongoing basis in order to protect the health and well-being of our university community.

Since the risk of becoming infected with this disease has remained high in our country, it is of the utmost important to follow the preventive measures issued by the health authorities in order to prevent contagion and provide a healthy space to study and work for everyone.

We remind you that domestic and international institutional trips will remain cancelled until further notice and we invite you to avoid any non-essential travel this vacation season.

If you need to travel for personal reasons, we ask you to strictly comply with the following health and hygiene measures:

  • Wear a facemask at all times.
  • Keep social distancing.
  • Wash your house regularly and thoroughly.
  • Avoid handshaking and kissing as a greeting.
  • Use alcohol-based solutions as hand sanitizers.
  • Cover your mouth with the inner crook of your elbow when coughing or sneezing.
  • Avoid crowded areas as much as possible.
  • Avoid being in the presence of people with any respiratory symptoms.
  • Avoid meetings with more than 20 people.

If you need to travel for personal reasons, we remind you that you will be subjected to the following reincorporation measures:

  • Remain in isolation and under observation at home.

  • Additionally, you will have to stay in a separate room for 14 days to see if any symptoms appear.

  • Do not attend classes or carry out any other in-person activities on campus during the quarantine or until the health committee authorizes you to do so.

  • If you present any symptoms, go to a health facility to have the necessary tests done and, if necessary, receive adequate treatment.

  • Inform your immediate boss of your departure/return. Likewise, notify Dr. Luis Sánchez at  [email protected] for follow-up.

We kindly ask you to keep abreast of this topic through the official communication channels of the World Health Organization (WHO), the Health Secretariat of the Mexican Government, and the Health Secretariat of the Government of the state of Nuevo León, which keep their information up-to-date and issue instant reports.

Furthermore, we ask you to stay attentive to the University’s official communication media, its e-mail, social networks, and the website udem.edu.mx/Coronavirus where you will find information on what to do during the pandemic.

Sincerely,
COVID-19 Committee
