Announcement | Cancellation of Graduations Spring 2020

San Pedro Garza García, Friday, March 27, 2020

Dear students:

In the past few weeks you have made an effort like never before; all of you have helped us to cope with a crisis that has shaken all the nations of the world. Going from taking the classes in a face-to-face format and a daily routine to establishing ourselves, in a short time, in a distance format has involved a great deal of adaptation work by all of you and your teachers. I am very grateful for your good disposition and your enormous ability to move from one stage to another without neglecting your academic performance.

I want you to know that we are intensifying our efforts to make this online experience even more effective for both you and our teachers and we hope to return to face-to-face classes as soon as possible.

Since February, derived from COVID-19, the University took measures to safeguard the health of our community and, when the pandemic was declared, we implemented additional preventive actions that have been reported. Due to the uncertainty about the permanence of this pandemic, we have made the difficult decision to cancel all the graduations planned for the Spring 2020 semester.

I know that graduation is a very emotional and special moment for you and your family members, and I am aware that there was great expectation of completing this important stage of your lives in a festive atmosphere, for which I tell you with great regret in the heart. Of course, this change will not affect the issuance of your title and certificates at all. Rest assured that this will continue as normal.

We are evaluating some alternatives to experience these special events at future dates and in accordance with the guidelines of the WHO, the Ministry of Health of the Government of the Republic and the Ministry of Health of the Government of the State of Nuevo León.

I thank you for following our official communication channels and through our website udem.edu.mx/Coronavirus to stay informed about subsequent actions.

With appreciation and thanks,
Mario Páez González
Rector
