Return to classes | Financial aspects – Undergraduate

San Pedro Garza García, July 23, 2020

Dear UDEM students and families,

We hope that you are well and that you and your loved ones are following the recommendations of health authorities to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

To date, 1 in every 2 UDEM students receives some type of financial support. Moreover, the 2 campuses of the Preparatoria Politécnica Santa Catarina (Polytechnic Preparatory School) function as a social and educational project led by UDEM to provide high-school level quality education to disadvantaged young people. Additionally, we contribute to the wellbeing of our community through the Health and Development Centers.

In order to maintain our goal of providing quality education, we have spared no expense on online education. We have invested in equipment, software, licenses, networking, system maintenance and training to have our teachers deliver their courses with everything necessary and our students continue their studies uninterruptedly. We have also made sure to maintain our teachers’ payroll intact.

With the enhancement of our technological infrastructure, we maintain the academic excellence that distinguishes us. Additionally, through the adaptations in sanitary infrastructure that we have carried out on campus, we are ready to provide the highest safety to our teachers and students upon their return, in accordance with the instructions from the authorities.

As follow-up to the announcement sent on Friday, July 10 2020 regarding the hybrid scheme and key dates, we hereby share with you some information concerning the financial aspects:

1. Financial considerations

  • There will be no increase to tuition fees for the remainder of 2020.
  • The administrative management commission on payments with credit and debit cards has been eliminated.
  • The late registration fee has been eliminated.
  •  The late payment fee on installments has been eliminated.
  • A six-month interest free plan is offered on the payment of registration and/or installments, valid with most credit cards.
  • A 3% discount on the total cost of the Fall 2020 term will be given to everyone choosing to cover the Fall 2020 four-month term in a single installment. This applies with any payment method and is equivalent to 9% annually.

2. Financial aid and educational credits

In accordance with the announcement sent on April 21, 2020, UDEM scholarships and educational credits in force during the Spring 2020 semester will remain unchanged for the Fall 2020 semester. In the case of students receiving a financial aid percentage, it will be automatically renewed and applied upon payment, regardless of whether the renewal requirements were met.

3. Voluntary purchase of Major Medical Insurance

Purchase of Major Medical Insurance policy will be voluntary for the Fall 2020 semester. We recommend that our students be covered with a Major Medical Insurance policy. Those students who do not hold one, may obtain one through UDEM, as usual. This insurance policy includes COVID-19 coverage and is offered at preferred pricing. This may be requested upon payment of registration.

This semester, UDEM will contract on-campus accident insurance to ensure protection for all its students within its facilities.

4. Course registration and payment deadline

It is important to mention that after completing course registration, there will be a period to pay for registration. For the Fall 2020 semester, the deadline to make payment will be August 31, 2020. We invite you to bear in mind this deadline to prevent your schedule from being deleted. In order to register your courses again, you will have to request a time ticket at the UDEM Portal and the new schedule will depend on the available spaces and groups at that moment.

5. Review your status in the UDEM Portal

It is important to review your status at the UDEM Portal or at the DASH registration portal. If you are blocked, we invite you to regularize your status as soon as possible, following the recommendation found in the portal so as not to affect your access to the course registration, regardless of whether you obtained your time ticket.

6. Late registration

If a student was unable to register his/her courses and the corresponding payment on the set dates, he/she will be given an extension with Friday, September 4, 2020 as the new deadline for late registration. For this, you will need to request a time ticket at the UDEM Portal, as from September1. It is worth mentioning that no late registration payment fee will be charged.

7. Installment due dates

Students who choose an installment payment plan for the Fall 2020 semester, will make payment of each installment on the following dates: September 15, October 15, November 17, and December 15, 2020.  Since the fee on the late payment of installments has been eliminated, we kindly ask you to meet the set payment dates so that UDEM has the resources to maintain the support that is being provided to the most affected student population.
