Directional Scanner for Wheelchairs

Author: UDEM

The experience of moving independently has become possible for people with cerebral palsy, thanks to a prototype Directional Scanner for Wheelchairs developed by two VICSA students.

The device, created at a lower cost than existing products in the market, is already being used by a patient at Instituto Nuevo Amanecer and has given him greater freedom to move.

The scanner was developed as the Final Evaluation Project of then students Carolina del Real Mata and Félix Enrique Rodríguez Cantú to graduate from the undergraduate degree program in Biomedical Engineering. They were advised by professor Hiram Alejandro Cantú Campos.
