Upon completion of this course, students will be acquainted with ratings and certifications of the sustainable characteristics of buildings, as well as with the importance and requirements to obtain such ratings and certifications, in order to familiarize the future architect with the new roles and functions to be assumed in work teams for sustainable projects.

Upon completion of this course, students will be able to distinguish analysis and simulation digital tools in terms of the environment as an optimization means, applying analysis methodologies and techniques of the different factors that intervene in the design of sustainable buildings.

Upon completion of this course, students will be acquainted with some of the most relevant types of sustainable constructions available in our context, in order to develop critical judgment to select appropriate techniques, systems, and materials for the specific conditions of a project, from its conception to its use, contributing to reduce the environmental impact that the buildings have on their surroundings.

Upon completion of this course, students will be able to comprehend the relation between people, space, architecture, and environment, for the purpose of developing a design methodology based on holistic analysis, taking into consideration the schedule requirements, human elements, scales, materials, and structure.

Upon completion of this course, students will be able to apply the principles and regulations of acoustic and lighting design, identifying the nature of sound dissemination and control, including its techniques and regulations, in order to develop architectural spaces with adequate, functional acoustic designs, without overlooking the use and application of technology, systems and lighting equipment as part of the architectural proposal in different building typologies.

The aim of this course is for students to analyze, select and apply the different materials that can be used as finishes in the composition of interior spaces.

Upon completion of this course, students will be able to Identify the interrelation between man and the city with the purpose of developing the capacity to intervene the urban landscape, understanding every element within the city and its possibilities to create environments which are functional, aesthetic, and sustainable.

Upon completion of this course, students will be able to understand and pass critical judgment on trends in architecture and urbanism.

Upon completion of this course, students will be able to find the interrelation of man with the environment and urban settings, public spaces and residential areas in order to design a composition through the use of elements that define landscape architecture: plants, materials, water, lighting, benches, and other urban furniture.

Upon completion of this course, students will be able to compare architectural restoration and preservation techniques, including buildings that are considered historical monuments, as well as recycling and adaptation options for old buildings in order to apply documentation techniques and feasibility studies as a tool in these processes.
